The WCA "Wildcat" Marching Band is in its 10th year of existence and has become one of the top small bands in North Alabama. During the last 2 marching seasons the WCA band has been “undefeated” in their class at all 4 marching contests in which they participated. In their 2016 season the band performed “The Piano Lesson” and won Best in class and best small division band at both the Pride of Hayden and Pride of Athens marching contests. During their 2017 season the band performed “Under Construction” and won their class in both the Dixie Pride contest at West Morgan HS and also the Pride of Athens contests.
The band is currently made up of 8th through 12th grade instrumentalists. The band rehearses during school hours in band class and also before school at 7am Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons until 4:00pm. The band also includes color guard, which is made up of girls 8th through 12th grade. The band performs at pep rallies, all home football games on Friday nights, one local away game, and a Christmas Parade. The band will perform in 3 marching contests this season for the first time. On September 22, 2018 they will compete at Pell City HS near Birmingham; On October 20, 2018 they will compete at Muscle Shoals HS. And on November 3, 2018 they will compete in the 1st ever Alabama State Marching Championship!
